Worshipping at Pilgrim - August Update

AUGUST 4 UPDATE: During the month of August, the distribution of Holy Communion at Pilgrim will revert to using pre-packaged communion cups with wafers, to remain consistent with state health guidelines. You may also bring your own bread or crackers and wine or juice to the worship service. And, of course, if you join us on Pilgrim's live stream of Sunday morning worship, you may use elements you have available at home. We will keep you informed of any chances in communion practice.

As always, Holy Communion will be celebrated at Pilgrim on the first and third Sundays of each month and on Festival Sundays.

(July 22) Following the Pilgrim COVID-19 Preparedness Plan, we continue to be in Phase 4 of the re-opening process. In August, Phase 4 means we will have in-person worship both outside and inside the church building. In addition, we will begin to have regular communion distribution when Holy Communion is celebrated on the first and third Sundays.

The basic pattern for Sunday mornings will be:

  • Worship Inside with live streaming on Facebook Live (August 1, 8, 15, and 29)

  • Worship Outside with NO live streaming (August 22)

  • Coffee Time immediately after worship (BYO beverage/snacks).

Here are our current health guidelines:

  • For all worship services, we ask worshipers to wear mask out of abundant concern for unvaccinated children and vulnerable adults.

  • All worship services will include singing (with masks on). Pastors and other worship leaders will remove masks when playing, singing, or speaking from the chancel.

You can expect that these patterns and guidelines may change as we move forward based on the advice of government health officials and of Pilgrim’s SMART Team.

Important Information on the Distribution of Holy Communion

  • The distribution of Holy Communion will begin again on Sunday, August 1 and will continue on the first and third Sundays of each month and on festival Sundays.

  • Holy Communion will be available by intinction from the pastors in the sanctuary from one station (this was discontinued on August 4).

  • Alternatively, you may receive communion by using elements you bring with you.

  • You may also receive communion by using pre-packaged communion cups with wafers, which are available during worship either from an usher as you arrive or at the distribution station.

  • Finally, if prefer, you may refrain from receiving Holy Communion
