This is a message from the St. Paul Area Synod of the ELCA, of which Pilgrim is a member congregation. Check out our very own Pastor Carol Tomer in the third video!
Celebrating the Ordained Women of the Synod
During our Synod Assembly last week, we observed the ELCA's 50/40/10 commemoration of:
the 50th anniversary of ordaining Lutheran women;
the 40th anniversary of ordaining Lutheran women of color;
and the 10th anniversary of LGBTQ individuals being able to serve freely.
We invite you to make some time to view (or re-watch, if you saw them at assembly) our videos that commemorate these observances. They include:
A tribute to the ordained women of our synod in music and photographs
A Conversation Across Generations featuring the Rev. Marilyn Breckenridge (retired) and her daughter, the Rev. Sarah Breckenridge (St. Andrew's, Mahtomedi) as they compare their experiences as pastors in different generations.
50 Years of Women in Ministry featuring the Rev. Carol Tomer (Pilgrim, St. Paul), the Rev. Cynthia Bullock (Immanuel, St. Paul), the Rev. Jennifer Hackbarth (Christ the King, White Bear Lake), and the Rev. Jill Rode (St. Anthony Park, St. Paul). They share what it was like, what it is like and what it might be like in the future to serve as a woman pastor. (NOTE: this video is the full recording; it's also available in three smaller segments that represent the conversation focused on past, present and future.)
